Valerie Kemp
Valerie Kemp joined the board in 2000 based on admiration of its founder, Teresa Kopatich. Theresa had previously worked at Shelter House and understood the need for transitional housing for that population. While serving with the Successful Living program, it has grown from one house serving 16 individuals to multiple houses increasing the capacity to assist this and other vulnerable populations, currently primarily mentally ill adults, many previously homeless and having substance use issues. Valerie’s work as a social worker and probation officer allowed her to utilize the Successful Living program often for her clients.
“I saw firsthand how stable housing and mental health intervention could assist my clients to stabilize and become successful. I'm proud of the organization and its important role in the community.”
